What happened at the Itäkeskus shopping center on Sunday?

by , under Enrique Tessieri

It appears that there is no evidence to support that a Muslim woman was allegedly attacked by 10 people at the Itäkeskus shopping center of Eastern Helsinki, according to Helsingin Sanomat. This is great news since the alleged victim is safe and sound.

Maryam Askar is a Somali activist who has appeared on television a number of times. She allegedly gave the racist sensationalist online publication an interview about what happened on Sunday.

Granting a racist publication like MV an interview is a definite trap and no-no. Or did she give MV an interview? The online publication makes up a lot of news.

Video material received by Migrant Tales shows one scene where the woman, using a niqab, not being allowed to enter the shopping center because of Suomi ensin (Finland first) supporters and even being shoved by one.

Apart from being shoved, one Suomi ensin protestor insults her by stating “what the f**k are you doing here.

The woman in the niqab is allowed to enter the shopping center after the police arrive.

This is pretty serious.

Despite what happened at the Itäkeskus shopping center on Sunday, racism in Finland, and specifically the type spread by groups like Suomi Ensin, haven’t gone anywhere despite what happened.

Nothing has changed. The discourse is just as hostile against migrants and minorities as before.

Politicians continue to remain silent while too many of us continue to look the other way.

After all these years MT has not changed. Minorities are always the victims and natives are always the enemy. Even when there is a video what happened.

“not being allowed to enter the shopping center because of Suomi ensin (Finland first) supporters and even being shoved by one.”

    – They (Finland First -protesters) are blocking her entrance to the shop and that I condemn. That was right in your story.
    – If you watch 0:23 and 0:42, you can clearly see the woman pushing the guys first. After that one guy pushes her back.

“insults her by stating “what the f**k are you doing here.”

After she pushed the guy, they didn’t yell that. They yelled “What the f**k are you doing?” (mitä vittua sä touhuat?) after she pushes the guy (0:23). See the difference? I probably would have asked the same question.

So, why do you not condemn her actions? She even lied to the police / media and she was the first person who started the pushing. Yes, this is pretty serious.
