Maria Lohela pats far right on the back because she is an Islamophobic populist

Outgoing speaker of parliament and Blue Reform (formerly Perussuomalaiset)* MP, Maria Lohela, finds kind words for a far-right Turku municipal council politician called Olavi Mäenpää who died this week. Olavi Mäenpää. Source: Facebook. Read the original posting here. Why would a politician like Lohela mention a politician who spreads racism and hatred of migrants and

Exposing white Finnish privilege #41: An Islamophobic politician and gender equality

A campaign for gender equality by Naisjäjestöt NJKL is an excellent example of white privilege and denial. In the tweet below, we know that Elisabeth Rehn and former Helsiniki Bishop Irja Askola have spoken out against racism and hate speech. However, on the top right hand of the picture we find Blue Reform* (New Perussuomalaiset) MP Maria Lohela, who made her political career by spreading Islamophobia and hatred towards migrants.

Timo Soini and the denial of Finland’s racism problem

Perussuomalaiset (PS)* chairman Timo Soini announced after being at the helm of the anti-immigration party for twenty years that he’ll step down as chairman in June. The narrative and the way that some newspapers and politicians are picturing Soini is a good example of Finland’s denial of racism.

Finnish PS speaker of parliament blames migrants for high unemployment

Anti-immigration party Perussuomalaiset (PS)* speaker of parliament, Maria Lohela, states in an interview in Helsingin Sanomat that the jobless rate among some migrant groups is many times higher than the national average. True. But the question the reporter should ask Lohela is “why” and “what she’s doing to change the situation” instead of parroting her views.

Danish People’s Party Pia Kjærsgaard: Inte min talman, or not my speaker of parliament [1]

Does it pay to be a racist in Finland? You bet your sweet behind it does!

Some may ask why Islamophobia and racism have raised their ugly heads in Finland. Let’s take Persussuomalaiset MP and the recently elected speaker of parliament, Maria Lohela, as an example. By writing Islamophobic and racist opinion pieces Lohela not only ended up being elected twice to parliament but now has as the speaker of parliament at her disposal a 140,000-euro Audi with driver included.

Mushis Azizi: Mörköfobiasta eduskunnan puhemieheksi

Minua, kuten varmasti montaa muutakin politiikkaa seuraavaa on hämmentänyt mediassa esiin noussut Perussuomalaisten Maria Lohelan blogikirjoitus “Ovatko muslimit sittenkin vain mörköjä?”. Blogikirjoituksessa Lohela on erittäin huolissaan islamtaustaisten maahanmuuttajien asumisesta Suomessa.

Emanuela Daniel tells about the historic protest they organized in front of parliament against the new speaker of parliament

Emanuela Daniel is an exemplary woman for organizing Friday a historic protest outside of parliament against Perussuomalaiset (PS)* Maria Lohela, who was elected as the new speaker of parliament. Defining white Finnish privilege #22: From racist, fascist to politician without memory

We saw a lot of white Finnish privilege during the April parliamentary elections and government talks, which include the anti-immigration Perussuomalaiset (PS)* party. If lowly things like turncoat politics and chicanery, racism and white Finnish privilege would have a smell, that stench would knock you off your feet right now.  The new speaker of parliament,

Facebook: Thumbs down to Maria Lohela and hurray for our side!
