During Friday prayers during Ramadan, two Finns drove next to the Al-Ikhlas mosque in the Espoo neighborhood of Leppävaara and threw inside two sound grenades at 11.20 pm, according to Finnish-based online publication Suapress News from Finland in Arabic.
The police arrived in 10 minutes after they were alerted.
Sheik Abdul Hamid, the imam of the Al-Ikhlas mosque, was quoted as saying in Daily Morocco that the sound grenades did not cause any damage or injured anyone
“A car stopped in front of the mosque and a deafening bomb was thrown, we saw a burst and then we heard the sound of an explosion outside the mosque before the vehicle burst”, said Sheik Hamid. “We have no idea of the attacker or the attackers, and we do not have a surveillance camera because we have not yet received authorization in this sense.”
The two suspects are still at large.
