Perussuomalaiset Maria Lohela: Inte min talman, or not my speaker of parliament

by , under Enrique Tessieri

Perussuomalaiset (PS)* Maria Lohela got elected Friday as speaker of parliament. Lohela is no ordinary MP but one who doesn’t believe in religious freedom, migrant and homosexual rights. As a politician she is the antithesis of Nordic values unless you believe that those values are supposed to advance bigotry and racism.

The picture below was found on the internet and means in English: Not my speaker of parliament.

The famous saying, Inte min talman, or you’re not my speaker of parliament, comes from Swedish MP Rossana Dinamarca of the Left Party. In the video below, Dinamarca goes to the podium and addresses the Swedish Riksdag (parliament). When Sweden Democrat deputy speaker of parliament Björn Söder tells her to address  him as “honorable speaker” she refuses and states, Inte min talman.

Apart from belonging to a far right party like the Sweden Democrats, Söder made headlines in December when he stated that people who aren’t white Swedes and don’t assimilate should leave the country. He targeted with his words the Saami, Jews and Kurds by stating that even if they have Swedish citizenship then can never be considered “real” Swedes.

The Finnish name for the Finns Party is the Perussuomalaiset (PS). The English-language names adopted by the PS, like True Finns or Finns Party, promote in our opinion nativist nationalism and xenophobia. We therefore prefer to use the Finnish name of the party on our postings.

Since when do you have a monopoly on Nordic values… You criticize her (Lohela) because of what you believe she has said, and/or stands for…. Let’s have a look at your background…. what do you stand for???… What is the human rights history and values of the land where you were nurtured…. and with that in mind you feel you have some moral right to criticize the choices made by parties duly elected by a democratic process that would be unrecognizable in the Junta-run area of the world whence you cometh….. It’s typical of the overly educated to feel they have some higher motive, hence beyond the ken of the unwashed in the country where you now squat. We came by our Nordic values through hundreds of years of trial and error, blood and sweat… Yes…. there was a time when Finns ran around the forests dressed in skins and were pagan…. it wasn’t really that long ago…. yet the roots whence cometh those who would overrun our little corner of paradise…. still bathe in blood…. through coups, run by Juntas/Generalissimos…. and supported by murderous death squads…. You come from that and expect us to take you seriously with your rhetorical swipes at our Nordic values….. haista perse…..

Matti, if you changed your style and stopped labeling people according to your prejudices maybe you’d get further with your comments. Nobody is attacking you personally and there is no reason for you to do the same. You were put out of moderation thanks to Marshall. I have second thoughts about that.

Seeing as this is public blog in which you have total right to discuss the choices of the recently-elected government, Steve and I (hopefully many others too) also have a right to take issue with your pronouncements about the people duly elected….. You don’t like them because of what they have said … You paint their political motives as hateful, racist, fascist …. what have I missed? (those aren’t labels???) You feel you can call these people all those disgusting terms but then take issue with my labels…. Have you assumed some sort of immunity to the same flaming you dish out??….. All people are a sum total of their life’s experience…. including politicians….You think you can rip them apart right by their roots …. however, woe betide those that turn their attention to you and your roots…. People in glass houses……

“Lohela is no ordinary MP but one who doesn’t believe in religious freedom, migrant and homosexual rights.”

On what do you base these claims on?

I see on the site’s facebook page, you have many migrant followers, some might not understand finnish that well, so you should understand your responsibility of giving accurate information here. You have power and you are using it wrong. You are agitating.

Steve, it’s clear you dislike what is being written here by me. Let me give you a Halla-aho response: If you don’t like it there are tons of other blogs where you can blend in and agree with.
